'Ever since I can remember, my unconscious was drawing me to a point in time when I could translate onto canvas that which was a magnet to my senses.' Caitriona Rowsome, 2008

I was born in 1971 into a family steeped in music and creative arts. From an early age I veered towards the art of music, in the form of Irish harp and piano. I studied piano under Mary Lennon in the College of Music, and obtained a Diploma VEC in the Irish Harp in 1990.

Putting aside my artistic abilities, I focused on a career which would develop my business skills and so I graduated from DCU in 1992 with a B.Sc. in Computer Applications. Still, after many years of just rewards for my IT endeavors, I felt I should let my artistic abilities shine through and capture how I perceived my surroundings on canvas.

I am completely self-taught and am drawn to a loose impressionist style. Funnily enough, this is mirrored in my love of the music from the great impressionists Ravel and Sibelius. My philosophy is that art is an adventure - a gift of creating from your senses that which you translate to canvas.

I have exhibited at festivals throughout Ireland, including the Wexford Festival Opera, the Kilkenny Arts Festival and my work can often be found at Art Ireland in the RDS, Dublin. My paintings have found homes in many corners of the world.
